Mobile video's popularity is skyrocketing. 2019 was the first year that smartphones became the most popular device where people watch online video globally—ahead of computers, tablets, and connected TVs (Limelight 2019). Despite this growth, the mobile video experience is far from perfect, and viewers remain plagued by poor startup times and rebuffering.
In this paper, we share valuable insights about the state of mobile video, including data on global viewing behaviors and the streaming issues that plague viewers when the watch on the go. In today's competitive OTT industry, it's crucial that providers have a mobile strategy to fix the video experience for their viewers, otherwise they'll lose engagement and revenue to those who do.
